When it comes to air conditioning manufacturer warranties they normally only cover parts and not labor. Although some do offer extended coverage for a cost that includes labor but the industry standard is parts only and usually for 10 years. Some brands do require registration of the heating and cooling equipment after installation. This is time sensitive with some manufacturers as they require you to complete registration within 60 days of the installation date. This is usually done by mail or online. Gulf Coast Heating and Cooling will complete the registration process for you in most cases.
It is important to note that a qualified HVAC company must do the installation to validate the manufacturer warranty. Most HVAC manufacturers have also started requiring regular maintenance be preformed on their equipment to maintain the warranty. Whether they enforce this going forward is yet to be seen. Be sure to thoroughly read the terms and conditions within your warranty.
HVAC Preventive Maintenance
Gulf Coast Heating & Cooling provides maintenance agreements to keep your equipment and investment in compliance with manufacturers warranty terms. We come out twice a year, once in the Spring for cooling and once in the Fall for heating. These yearly maintenance agreements are $180 and include many benefits as seen over here.
As far as labor is concerned, the standard practice is to offer a one year labor warranty. This gives your system enough time to operate in both the heating and cooling modes and to determine if they’re any issues in either mode.
